Veneers
Benefits of Veneers
If you have a chipped, cracked, or discoloured tooth, a dental veneer may be the solution for you. With these, we can fully restore an imperfect smile quickly and affordably. Both the natural shape, and white colour of porcelain veneers look seamless in your mouth. We form them to your unique teeth, so most people will not even notice you have veneers.
It is beneficial that porcelain veneers are not made from the same enamel as your natural teeth. Our veneers are non-porous, which means they resist decay and staining better than your natural tooth enamel. Veneers can also be used to protect compromised teeth structures. With a protective capping over the tooth, you can avoid a crack or chip potentially spreading and causing further damage.
Our Veneer Process
Porcelain veneers are custom-made and require two appointments to place. During the first appointment, your dentist will very slightly reduce the size of your teeth to prepare them for the veneers. Sedation may be used prior to this shaping to ensure your comfort. A digital impression is then made of your prepared teeth, and a model is sent to a dental lab to create veneers that perfectly match the size and shade of your surrounding teeth. Temporary veneers are placed on your teeth until your permanent veneers are ready.
When the dental lab has finished creating the veneers, we place them on your prepared teeth using a strong dental adhesive. A high-intensity light is used to set the adhesive and permanently bond the veneers to your teeth.
How Long do Veneers Last?
With proper care, veneers can last for a very long time. On average, most veneers will remain strong for 10-15 years. With an optimal oral hygiene routine, however, they can last for much longer.
Caring For Your Veneers at Home
While a veneer itself cannot suffer any decay or disease, it is possible to develop a cavity within a tooth covered by a veneer. To avoid this, we recommend brushing twice-a-day and flossing at least once. These steps will help maintain your veneers and teeth by keeping them clean and free of any harmful bacteria. Regular dental checkups and cleanings are still required to keep your teeth healthy.
